Flip and Etnies sponsored rider Ali Boulala is out of the hospital and at home. He is able to walk again and his condition is improving well. In cause you are not informed, Ali had a motorcycle accident with fellow skater Shane Cross who tragically died due to his injuries. Alcorcón Skatepark, Madrid, Spain

Alcorcon - Madrid
I had trouble finding this park so I am pretty sure the park is just around the spot where I put it on the map…as always, if you have better information, let me know!

Check the “European Skateparks” tab to see where the park is located…

Picking up on my spanish to find the skate parks!

It is a lot more work than one would imagine to actually find the parks and especially to get the exact addresses and that in spanish! Well, no excuse for me. My mom is spanish and I used to be able to speak the language but I’m getting old and rusty so I am combing through the cobwebs and reading the dictionary. New words for today:

un bordillo: the curb
encerado: waxed (I think that’s what it means!)

And to make sure the right people get the respect that is due, here are the websites I am going through to get the spots, so go and check their sites out as well if you are planning a Spain trip:
Inseguridad.org
e-skate.net
skateradikal.spymac.comÂ

So I’ll carry on with adding in those parks - it sure is a good way to get your mouth watering early in the morning, seeing all these good places to skate!

Skatepark Algorta, Spain

Algorta Pool
This is pool that has brought forth quite a few good skaters and is known throughout Europe. It gets toured by contest series and skaters alike. Located right on the Arrigunaga beach in the Abra Bay of Bilbao, Spain you skate among the castle ruins and look out to the sea…we will meet some day my friend and you will face my slappy grinds *grin*

Granollers, Spain pools and mini-ramps close to Barcelona

Granollers - Barcelona

Nice looking 17 year old park with two pools, one of them kidney shaped and a double-pool with shallow and deep-end. Two concrete mini-ramps stand back to back with a spine connecting them.

The park is close to the Granollers bus station in Granollers, around 40 kilometers from Barcelona. Take the RENFE train from Estacio Sants to Granollers Centre. From the train station take the first right on the main boulvard (thanks to Andy Tucker for the updated info!). You should bring a broom to seep out the flat!

Getting Spain on the skateboard map

That’s right, I am going to get as many Spanish parks as I can find in the next few days into our Skatepark Finder area to get that area growing so stay tuned here as I churn out the information. I’ve decided on keeping the information short and to the point in order to get more sites in here.

If you have more information or pictures from a park or spot, please get in contact with me. I’ll update the area and let the people out there know you helped out!

The Rip Curl Boardmasters Surf, Skate & Music Festival 2007

This is a festival you don’t want to miss if you can get the time off to head over to good old Newquay, England for the Rip Curl Boardmasters 2007 Festival. Loads of “action” sporting going on with the Men’s World Qualifying Series (WQS) surf contest, a Women’s 5* WQS event, the Vans Summer Session Vert skate and Eastpak Miniramp contests happening all through the days between August 6th and 12th this year.

The purse is something you’d go after if you had the skills with $20,000 up for grabs this year. Terence Bougdour from France won last year making him the first skater to win the competition three years in a row. But he will have to keep up the pace as other European high-flyers are expected: Jürgen Horrwarth, Jocke Olsson, Jussi Korhonen (third in the world halfpipe rankings), Pete King and Dave Allen could be showing up with others to make it a skate competition to remember. An “Under 16″ year old event is also being held to show off the big talents coming up in the scene right now. Besides the halfpipe skating there will be mini-ramp sessions, a street competiton and a BMX competition in the mini-ramp!

And if you think that’s all, there’s loads of bands to watch including Funeral for a Friend, Ash, The Subways, Guillemots and many more…and yeah, there is a bikini competition as well. Lots of fun happening….

Skateboarding in my head this morning

Man, what a weekend…I couldn’t get out to skate due to the family but it did help me at the same get a lot of work done on one of my many websites so I can concentrate a bit more on Europeskate this week! To start the day off I just found a nice looking site which has a lot of video links called Mostly Skateboarding.

Mostly Skateboarding

The weekend also gave me the time to send out my interview questions to Ricardo Oliviera Porva, one of the world’s top street skaters who got in contact with us here at Europeskate. Hope to be able to start up a new area about skaters and their lifes.
