    Old School New School

Since last weekend skateboard photographer Alexander Basile and Barbara Wuellenweber are holding an exhibition called “Oldschool & Newschool - two views of skateboard photography” in the “85 Gallery” in Antwerpen, Belgium. The photographs combine moments from 1989 which were taken in the Cologne/Bonn area in Germany and skaters today captured in the urban environment.

Barbara Wuellenweber, now 40 years old, was a teenager herself back in 1989 when she discovered skateboarding and decided to put it on film. The whole idea was to become a study of human body and its movements. Alex Basile, now 26 years old, looks for skaters in the urban environment and just this year contributed to the book “Dirt Ollies” which shows western culture colliding with eastern enviroments in Mongolia.
