Overground Broadcasting trailer out of Japan!

July 30th, 2008 / 2 Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Far East Skate Network

After using my lunch break to check out some local German websites, I came across an incredibly cool video on the Place Skateboarding website which shows Gou Miyagi’s part from ‘Overground Broadcasting‘, a film by The Far East Skate Network.

The film premiered back in May 2008 already but it doesn’t make this any old news. The skating, the filming, the music – it all goes hand in hand and I really need to get my hands on a copy of the entire film. Fantastic job guys!

SK8FACE skateboard graphics documentary trailer

July 30th, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

SK8FACE

I remember as a kid looking at decks and complete boards in the local skate shop that I always wanted either the Zorlac boards or something with some “crazy” graphics…just make sure people will look at your board. I still enjoy looking at graphics, they belong on a board just like your choice of trucks and wheels. It is definitely a way to state your opinion or view of something, a mark of personality.

SK8FACE is a documentary film about just this topic – the evolution of skateboard graphics. The cast in the upcoming movie is really impressive and the trailer will get your appetite for more going, have a peek right here.

8th Marisquiño contest in Vigo, Spain August 9th-10th

8th Marisquiño contest in Vigo Spain

It’s good when there are people out there keeping me informed on a regular basis about events as sometimes some just slip right through those tiny e-mail holes and disappear.

Fredo is the man contacting me about this event in Vigo, Spain. He has been organizing it every year since 2000, starting off as a skate-only event and growing into an action sports event, but with a high level of skating. Just two years ago Javier Sarmiento and Rodrigo Teixeira were there and 2007 skaters from Argentina and Brazil took the podium.

Official video from the 2007 event

- Extra video 1 from last year
- Extra video from 2006

There is prize money as well: 1st 1800€, 2nd 800€, 3rd 400€, 4th 200€ and 5th 100€

Here’s where Vigo is on the map, maybe you are nearby and you don’t even know!

Magnum is down with Roger Skateboards

July 29th, 2008 / 2 Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Roger Skateboards

What the f&%k is this guy talking about? you might be thinking….Roger Skateboards is a new brand I just read about over at the SKateboard Mag site and of course I had to have a look as it has something to do with Michael Sieben (watch his adidas video clip I wrote about yesterday…).

Roger Skateboards looks like it has been started as the follow-up company for the short lived Bueno Skateboards (maybe this is a spoof and I am gullible – the Bueno Skateboards site is still there, sort of, with some text from last year and a lot of broken links so it does look a bit run done..) by Stacy Lowery and Michael Sieben. So what you may be saying, another skateboard company.

Well, if you like Michael’s graphics like I do, then you know this isn’t just another company. Really nice decks here and I hope they get around to bringing out some gear to wear…the future will tell us more, good luck guys!
