Nyjah Huston Wins 150000 Dollars At First Street League Contest

I obviously wasn’t at the first ever Street League event this past weekend in Glendale, Arizona, USA – a bit too far for me to sit down with 6500 spectators (uh oh, don’t like that word with skateboarding but that’s another discussion). Sure, the level of skateboarding is insane and it’s okay for me to see skaters earning some good money but $150,000 bucks for one contest??? A bit over the top for me but that’s just my opinion….the next two events take place on September 11th and 25th.

1. Nyjah Huston 116 points 82% consistency $150,000
2. Shane O’Neill 114.9 points 79% consistency $80,000
3. Torey Pudwill 112.8 points 82% consistency $25,000
4. Sean Malto 111 points 86% consistency $10,000
5. Chris Cole 109.6 points 79% consistency $7,500
6. Chaz Ortiz 102.2 points 79% consistency $6,000
7. Paul Rodriguez 100.1 points 71% consistency $5,500

Europeskate Photo Of The Day August 25th 2010

As I have more time on my hands I’ll be stepping up the photography and music areas as well as continuing the daily push on skateboarding news, videos and products.

The latest Europeskate Photo Of The Day for August 25th 2010 was taken by Julian Bleecker (check out his Flickr gallery here…) at the Tigard Skate Park during this year’s Trifecta 2010 skate contest. Eric “Tuma” Britton gets a nice frontside handplant in there.

Here We Are Again – Big Push 2010

Here We Are Again – Big Push 2010

Back again (what, another year has already passed on by??) with the Big Push 2010. If you don’t know what this is then catch up right here with the words from the people running the contest and check out the video introduction plus last year’s winning video edit from the VANS team below.

» keep looking back for updates on the official Big Push 2010 page

“This year we have an extra team with I-Path joining last years six. We’ve also slimmed down the challenges and dropped the specific regions in favour of dividing the UK into North and South to give each team more time and space to simply go out skateboarding.

Each team is tasked with a variety of missions, including 10 obscure tricks for points, a possible three NBD tricks at famous spots in their assigned area (North or South) as well as a highest ollie competition, which will happen on the road.

As with last year, points accrued from completing the challenges set will count for half of each team’s individual score, with online voting accounting for the rest. Your votes will be added to these pre-existing scores to determine the overall winners – you are voting for your favourite edit – nothing else, so use your vote wisely.

The winning team of this year’s Big Push will score themselves £2000 prize money to share between the participants, as well as the cover of the Christmas mag and internet fame beyond compare.

The Big Push DVD will be cover-mounted on the October issue of Sidewalk, due out in shops on or around the 19th of October.

All the Big Push edits will be online from November 1st to allow those who haven’t seen the magazine to get involved in bigging up their favourite crew of shoe humans. Online voting will close on the 15th of November so don’t hang about.”

Pedro Barros Wins Gold At The X Games 2010

Pedro Barros Shreds At The X Games 2010

Fifteen-year-old Brazilian Pedro Barros is on a big run as he went away with gold at this year’s X Games Skateboard Park contest, pushing Andy MacDonald to second and Kevin Kowalski and Curren Caples to a tie third place. Most definitely one of the best runs I have seen in a contest as he just flows from wall to wall and just skates. It doesn’t even look like a contest when he’s on his board and that is what’s so refreshing about this guy. Way to go Pedro!
