The DC Shoes Wildcard Session in Hamburg, Germany

After a rained out Saturday event, the DC Wildcard Session took place in Hamburg, Germany to see which three skaters would win the ticket to the Red Bull Bomb The Line event.

Three 30 minute heats took place with 30 skaters battling it out for the wildcards for the Red Bull Bomb the Line 2013 which will happen July 3rd in Berlin. After the dust settled Vladik Scholz, Louis Taubert and Dardan Sabovic won their way to Berlin with some fast, stylish and consistent skating.

Top 3 lines:
1. Vladik Scholz | frontside bluntslide (hubba), frontside smith grind (flatrail), nollie backside 180 heelflip (stairs/8 steps)
2. Louis Taubert | backside smith grind (hubba), bigspin frontside bluntslide (flatrail), 360 flip (stairs/8 steps)
3. Dardan Sabovic | backside 180 fakie nosegrind (hubba), switch frontside boardslide (flatrail), fakie flip (stairs/8 steps)

Here are the dates for the next German DC Wildcard Sessions 2013:

Owl Eyes On Jürgen Horrwarth

Jürgen Horrwarth skates all terrains at a high level but when it comes to vert skating, he belongs to the world’s best skaters. Just before his video part for Trap Skateboards is released he’s been featured in this “Owl Eyes On” video edit with minimal lighting at his home vert ramp in Berlin, Germany. Can’t wait for his Trap Skateboards part!

Hamburg, Germany’s Brand New Outdoor Skatepark Opens!

My hometown has been waiting for this for months now – the brand new Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg skatepark has officially been opened “to the public” and (as I am still on vacation close to Helsingoer, Denmark skating the outdoor park there) it looks really good.

Being one of the largest concrete parks in all of Germany, it was built by Hamburg’s Minus Ramps team mixing street plaza elements with a lot of flow which continues into a snake run and bowl area with pool coping!

I’m driving back to Hamburg tomorrow and on Monday I get my “season” ticket for the park because I’m part of the local skateboard club. That’s the only problem at the moment. The skatepark is located in the new international garden show which is open from April 26th until October 13th of this year and you have to pay to get in. And the price during the day is really steep: 21 Euros if you are over 17 years old. There’s an evening card which is still 9 Euros.

I’ll be adding a video next week when I’ve skated it and I’ll keep you up-to-date about any possibilities to get in cheaper. If you are in town to skate, give me a shout with a mail or call me up (check the contact page for my contact info)!

The Sesh At The Hamburg Red Banks

The Sesh At The Hamburg Red Banks

Good way to start the day off with a video from one of our local spots in Hamburg, Germany. The spot which is actually called the Wilhelmsburg Banks because of the part of the city in which it is located (and soon the home of Hamburg’s new outdoor concrete park as well!) and it has been attracting a lot of travelling skaters lately. Watch the video from The Skateboard Mag and understand why! Kevin Kowalski, Mason Merlino, Socks, Danny Tumia, Frank, Shaw, Frank Faria, and friends show what can be done on these banks…they are not as easy to ride as it looks.
