Dillinger Escape Plan tour practice video
June 10th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Here’s a video showing Dillinger Escape Plan busy rocking it out in their band room as they were preparing for the current tour which is taking them along the east coast of the United States and Canada before they head off to Europe starting July 1st, 2009. They are just plain insane with their instruments these guys – if you can, make sure you catch them live, it’s more than worth it and different than just about any other band I know. Pure energy…

BLISS ‘3 seconds before * 21 grams after’ album
May 4th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

BLISS is a three man band out of France putting out straight metal/rock n roll which started up in 2003. I was contacted by them as one of their songs – Bullet for Christmas – was chosen as the official song for the FISE 2009 (international sports event in Montpellier, France which attracts over 300,000 spectators – comparable to the X-Games).
If you are into their music (listen in on their MySpace page by clicking here) then you’ll be interested in getting their brand new debut album “3 seconds before*21 grams after“. I personally liked their “Vivre” song the most!
Gallows – Grey Britain out tomorrow!
May 3rd, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

The Gallows – underground hardcore band out of Watford, England made a major amount of noise with their debut album “Orchestra Of Wolves” in 2006 with their slightly different take on what is hardcore and how to go about making it heard.
With their move over to Warner Records many believed this could be the next great band to lose it to the machinery of big business. Ooohhh how wrong could they all be with that prophecy. A smooth intro with “The Riverbank” takes you straight into the typical shout / sing-along chorus that we all love about this band. The record comes across as a lot smoother and that is nothing bad – it rocks just as well and the power is as always present. Always changing speeds, riffs and Carter’s shouts just make you want to hear it again and again..I love it already! Hear it know on the MySpace page and make sure you buy it. This band deserves the support! And yes, they are on tour right now in England, heading over to Europe and then the States for the Warped Tour 2009!

No Friends to bring out record with No Idea Records
April 28th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

So who in hell is ‘No Friends‘? The brand new super band comes in strong with 80’s / early 90’s style hardcore music with members of the now non-existent ‘New Mexican Disaster Squad‘ and Tony Foresta (singer of Municipal Waste).
This packs more than just a punch and really brings back loads of memories from back in the good old days of slam dancing the evenings away.

Jereme Rogers rapping…??
March 27th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Well, I never really was personally into rap so I am not going to voice too much opinion on this album but after finding out that Jereme Rogers has hooked up with another dude calling himself “Detroit” and actually put out a rap album, I had to listen in and read the many comments letf on the Club Mumble site (click here for all of the comments and to be able to listen in yourself…).
Let me just put it this way – it sounds to me a bit like a white guy trying to sing like a softie version of Snoop Doggy Dog but hey, if you like it then enjoy!

Leathermouth’s debut record ‘XO’
March 11th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Leathermouth is a new band on Epitaph Records which brough out their debut record in Januray 2009 “XO”. The lead singer Frank Iero brings his musical experience from My Chemical Romance, a band which in my opinion started out well and has completely drifted off into a zone I don’t want have anything to do with. Probably good musicians but nothing more than pop music.
Leathermouth is definitely something different, special and a lot louder! 10 songs make up this refreshingly fun record with titles like “I am going to kill the president of the United States of America” making people look twice at the lyrics which is getting more difficult everyday with the amount of boring bands taking the stage and copying other bands and their personalities. Here’s their intro straight of the Epitaph site:
“I think there is a void of bands that are outspoken on things that actually matter,” explains Iero. “There’s too much bad hair and white belts. Sometimes it nice to turn your brain off and just listen to someone sing about girls. I’m not knocking it. I do think there is a time and a place. But LeATHERMOUTH isn’t like that…it’s about hate. Hate that boils up inside and eats away at you, if you don’t vomit it up you know it will eventually destroy you.”
Tired of the misdirected blame in school shootings, overmedicating kids and nefarious politicians among other things, Iero viciously explodes with pent up frustration on XO, spewing his aggression out in a rapid fire succession. XO is a call to action with thick speeding rock riffs inciting listeners with brutal hostility, inculcating a sense of urgency with the controversial track “Catch Me If you Can,” which likens the NYPD to Jack the Ripper, “Sunsets Are For Muggings,” about being robbed of your childhood by drugs and therapy and “5th Period Massacre,” which points the finger at bullying students as the cause a school shooting.
“I would say this record is about trying to wake people up to what is happening right in front of their eyes,” Iero continues. “We are all trying our hardest to pretend bad things don’t happen to good people, and that there is some higher power looking over us…but it’s bullshit. Stop covering your children’s eyes. Everything is fucked, and pretending it’s not isn’t making things any better. I’m tired of people praying for a change when it’s up to them to get off their asses and make a change.”
