Jereme Rogers rapping…??
March 27th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Well, I never really was personally into rap so I am not going to voice too much opinion on this album but after finding out that Jereme Rogers has hooked up with another dude calling himself “Detroit” and actually put out a rap album, I had to listen in and read the many comments letf on the Club Mumble site (click here for all of the comments and to be able to listen in yourself…).
Let me just put it this way – it sounds to me a bit like a white guy trying to sing like a softie version of Snoop Doggy Dog but hey, if you like it then enjoy!

Leathermouth’s debut record ‘XO’
March 11th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Leathermouth is a new band on Epitaph Records which brough out their debut record in Januray 2009 “XO”. The lead singer Frank Iero brings his musical experience from My Chemical Romance, a band which in my opinion started out well and has completely drifted off into a zone I don’t want have anything to do with. Probably good musicians but nothing more than pop music.
Leathermouth is definitely something different, special and a lot louder! 10 songs make up this refreshingly fun record with titles like “I am going to kill the president of the United States of America” making people look twice at the lyrics which is getting more difficult everyday with the amount of boring bands taking the stage and copying other bands and their personalities. Here’s their intro straight of the Epitaph site:
“I think there is a void of bands that are outspoken on things that actually matter,” explains Iero. “There’s too much bad hair and white belts. Sometimes it nice to turn your brain off and just listen to someone sing about girls. I’m not knocking it. I do think there is a time and a place. But LeATHERMOUTH isn’t like that…it’s about hate. Hate that boils up inside and eats away at you, if you don’t vomit it up you know it will eventually destroy you.”
Tired of the misdirected blame in school shootings, overmedicating kids and nefarious politicians among other things, Iero viciously explodes with pent up frustration on XO, spewing his aggression out in a rapid fire succession. XO is a call to action with thick speeding rock riffs inciting listeners with brutal hostility, inculcating a sense of urgency with the controversial track “Catch Me If you Can,” which likens the NYPD to Jack the Ripper, “Sunsets Are For Muggings,” about being robbed of your childhood by drugs and therapy and “5th Period Massacre,” which points the finger at bullying students as the cause a school shooting.
“I would say this record is about trying to wake people up to what is happening right in front of their eyes,” Iero continues. “We are all trying our hardest to pretend bad things don’t happen to good people, and that there is some higher power looking over us…but it’s bullshit. Stop covering your children’s eyes. Everything is fucked, and pretending it’s not isn’t making things any better. I’m tired of people praying for a change when it’s up to them to get off their asses and make a change.”

Band check-out : Sirhan Sirhan
January 11th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Sirhan Sirhan are a three man band out of San Diego, California sporting a mixture of screamo vocals, punk and metal riffs and basically quic and dirty lyrics. It definitely is not music for those of you out there hoping to snap your fingers to a beat or something silly like that (how did I come up with that sentence??).
Basically what these guys are up to is noise rock and just last year they came out with their debut album with 11 tracks entitled “Blood” which is in my opinion and eye and ear opener – something to listen to and different than most of the generic pop/punk/metal bands sprouting out of the ground everyday. Oh, and by the way a little history lesson for all of us: Sirhan Bishara Sirhan was the guy convicted for assassinating Robert Kennedy, thus changing history itself in the USA massively – are they trying to tell us something? Get the record/CD, it’s more than worth it!

New video from These Arms Are Snakes
December 14th, 2008 / 1 Comment » / by Jonathan Young

One of my favorite bands at the moment is “These Arms Are Snakes” with their different approach to arranging new music styles and keeping it rough. Here’s their latest video production of the song “Red Line Season”. More coming soon about this band as the entire record is something one has to listen to a few times ti appreciate!

October 17th, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Vans keeps moving and trying to find new chances of getting to the people. The idea with working with bands is not new but I always love the chance to go to a concert and listen to some new bands.
The Vans “Off The Wall” Music Night will be taking place November 1st, 2008 in five different countries and the first 30 people through the door get a free pair of Vans plus the chance to win the limited edition Vans Fender guitar. Sounds good to me – have fun, listen to bands and possible get some free gear, not bad.
Here are the times and spots for the gigs:
17:00 Faversham – Leeds, UK
18:00 La Maroquinerie - Paris, France
20:00 Backstage – München, Bayern
20:00 Tube – Modena, Italy
22:00 Sala KGB - Barcelona, Spain

Rise Against with new album “Appeal To Reason”
October 15th, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Rise Against puts their name back into the headlines with their next full length album entitled “”Appeal To Reason”. I listened to the album a few times yesterday and well, yeah, it sounds like Rise Against, there are a few slightly new and interesting parts but altogether it’s pretty much the same direction as the former release. And nothing against that – surely recommendable if you know the band, like this type of music and if you can, make sure you see them live as the shows are quite intense.
But hold your horses – they will be touring Europe first starting February 3rd, 2009 in Vienna, Austria and then travel to Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Ireland and a lot of shows in the UK (London March 6th, 2009).
