UK skaters wanted for Cliche and Stereo teams

If you want to stay up-to-date with skateboarding news in Europe and around the world, then subscribe now to the Europeskate RSS feed by clicking this link!. Thanks for visiting!

Picking through the sites as usual I’ve seen a couiple of companies currently on the lookout for new blood for their teams. Stereo Skateboards for one is searchign fro a young british skater who doesn’t ride for any other company. The new talent will be chosen by Chris Pastras himself so if you think you could fit into this team, get your footage together and send it in to “Out of Step Distribution” asap (wes@outofstep.ltd.uk).

And Cliche is also looking for a new UK rider which has sparked off a massive run on the forum entry over at Sidewalk Skateboards. It’s a who’s who of British skateboarding and lovely comments, sure got me laughing. Should be interesting to see who makes the race. John Tanner, Shaun Witherup, Daniel Clarke or somebody else? Stay tuned…

2nd Annual Copenhagen Pro contest date changed!

Copenhagen Pro 2008

More info just floated in today through Revival Distribution about the changed date for the 2nd Annual Copenhagen Pro contest. Here’s the official info release:

In a move designed to help streamline the European summer contest schedule and to help facilitate the highest possible pro rider turn out, DVS announces that it has officially changed the dates of its 2nd annual Copenhagen Pro contest.

DVS VP of Marketing Tim Gavin says moving the contest dates works better logistically. “Our previous dates overlapped with other skate events which would have made it difficult for many top pros to attend our event,” says Gavin. “With our new dates in place, the CPH pro and the Mystic Cup in Prague are now back to back which we feel will help make travel easier for skaters, editors, and spectators to attend both events.”

To help spread the word, DVS has launched a Copenhagen Pro mini Web Site. The new site, www.dvsskate.com/cphpro, is a subdivision of dvsshoes.com and will serve as a practical travel guide for skaters, attendees, and press. The content gives online viewers an overview of the event as well as useful travel information like directions, places to crash, food spots, party spots, as well as a list of tourist attractions you might want to check out while you’re touring Scandinavia.

See you in Copenhagen!

Quiksilver Bowlriders 2008 contest dates announced!

The already legendary Quiksilver Bowlriders tour is back in 2008 with 12 stops plus the finals which will once again be held at the Stapelsbaddparken skatepark in Malmö Sweden June 13th - 15th of this year. Decay Skateboards from Austria

Decay Skateboards

And yet another skateboard company which was waiting to be found by myself. All I know is that they have a website, a bunch of boards and other products (actually it looks like they are bringing out a collaboration shoe with Dekline Shoes? any info there?) and 8 team riders as of today. I’ll be contacting them to find out more than this sparse bit of info. Decay Skateboards runs out of Austria and you can find out more yourself here:

Great skateboard footage out of Paris by Sylvain Robineau

The skateboard videos are just flying at us lately and it sure is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon/evening when it’s cold outside. The latest video footage to float into the Europeskate realms is from Sylvain Robineau out of France who has put together a 12 minute long video of skater Soy Panday (Landscape Skateboards,Dekline Shoes) called “Le Parisien” cruising through Paris.
I can only say watch it. With all of the copycat movies out there with someone doing one more flip than the other skater, this is a very refreshing piece of skateboarding put down onto film with a very relaxed music track to go with it. Take a look right here and enjoy!

Skateboarders older than 18 banned from London Bridge skatepark!

London Bridge Skatepark

Weird news seems to float in here pretty often and of course I only try to deal with skateboard or music related articles so this one straight from the UK Skateboarding Association stuck straight out. This one deals with a ban on skaters OLDER than 18 from skating the London Bridge skatepark…yeah, sounds strange right? I’ll let Kevin Parrott’s words do the talking… Read more

Last Mag, Magnetik.tv and Cliche Skateboards - French news

I will be starting a new article type today - basically I will be going to some of the major online sites (and if possible smaller ones with good infos) around Europe gathering tidbits of information about the European scene, what is happening with the skaters, companies, whose doing new graphics and whatever falls in my lap. I’ll continue bringing shorter updates about contest and skateparks to make sure those keep flowing into the concept.

Last Mag 19

News straight from France (www.sk8.net) - Just this morning I came across a great looking magazine called “Last Mag” which is all in French - which is okay for me as I can at least understand the language. It shows off quite a bit of their graphical knowledge and style which is really nice to look at and certainly if you can read it, do so. They invested a lot of energy in creating this good piece so I’ll be checking into it tonight. You can download a PDF version of the magazine on their site or help support them by buying it.

Lyon has its very own skate website which is currently a bit basic but they seem to be keeping the information flow up. Check the site right here: http://skatelyon.free.fr/

Cliché Skateboards has presented their new line up of skateboards called X-Rays with board widths between 7.5 and 8.0.

Cliché Skateboards

Definitely a must-see site with some kick-ass videoscomes straight out of France - lots of good street and pool skating to be seen here with some really well created video cuts. Go over to http://www.magnetik.tv/ for more, it’s worth it. It sure made my lunch break more fun today….now let me see, August 6th I fly down to Nizza so August 7th I can drive over to Marseille *hehe*
