Starting up the Music Arena here on Europeskate once again is a metalcore band which has been around since 2002 which goes by the name of “Bloodsimple”…sounds like the typical “we are so metal hardcore band” name to some but don’t be fooled by a simple name: I am putting their latest release “Red Harvest” (October 2007 on Bullygoat/Reprise Records) in with my absolute top favorites of the year 2007.
Bloodsimple started up in 2002 under the name Fix 8 with former members of Vision of DisorderTim Williams and Mike Kennedy. In 2004 they signed to Bullygoat Records which had been founded by Mudvayne’s vocalist Chad Gray. The debut record, entitled “A Cruel World”, was recorded in Vancouver, Canada with producer Garth Richardson. The following years brought many concerts and tour dates with some big name bands such as Soulfly, Six Feet Under, Static-X and Disturbed. 2006 got the band backing Stone Sour, Alice in Chains, Metallica and Korn.
The latest album, “Red Harvest”, was produced by Machine, who has produced records for many successful acts such as Eighteen Visions and Lamb of God. The power which comes at you like a wall when you even listen to their music at a normal volume is intense, crisp, plain powerful. Tim Williams voice carries the dominant sound orchester with pride and got me wanting to slam dance in my own office.
Be sure to check out their blog page or the MySpace page to listen in on this fantastic album…
