The web is packed with information, videos, pictures, social networks, interviews´- you name it, you can find it and about 20 times more than you can ever consume and that’s a really bad estimate. We’re being flooded with information and yeah, I’m contributing to the flood, regurgitating information that you can find as well and sometimes I do ask myself if all that I am doing is for any good.

Hell yeah! Plain and simple, we all decide for ourselves if we are going to just have friends online, spend our time in chatrooms and believe we are cool if we have over 1000 Twitter friends. I don’t care about that – the possibility to use the means of communication are fantastic and when I find a goldmine which has it’s roots all the way over in Brazil (Vista.art.br is the website I’m talking about here!), I just love the web for what it has to offer! The people behind this website have put together a great mix of skateboarding, art and music and from what i can barely understand due to the language, it even looks like they have a print mag going (??)…click on the picture below for an online Flash mag packed with animated pages, pictures and a bunch of videos – just plain good work here!

Got to push your local friends and I gladly do it for Gerd Rieger’s BAILGUN Magazine which has just reached issue #7 – the Swedish Issue. Featuring loads of great photos and insights into the Quiksilver Bowlriders Finals in Malmö, Sweden this past summer 2008. I was there with Gerd so this is a great issue to look through and get an impression about some of the action that took place.

Axel Torschmied from the website skateanddestroy.de is also a talented German photographer living in Sweden currently and he rounds off the magazine with a series of pictures from southern Sweden. I also met up with him in Malmö which made the entire experience a blast.

Simplistic layout with some wording spread in between make this BAILGUN issue a great extra for your coffee table in the living room.

Michael Sieben has had his art – which often combines skateboard graphic design and children’s book illustrations – presented in a variety of formats including magazines, prints, on t-shirts, in art shows and now it seems also in a new shoe series edition from adidas.

Marketing people sometimes get carried away a bit with the money they are allowed to invest in pushing new products and it looks like they had a fair bit for the promo video of the Michael Sieben designed shoes. The video shows Michael going on a treasure hunt with three characters most likely also created by Michael – people in costumes, not drawn. I’m not going to try to take the video apart and analyze it, just make sure you watch it because it is, well, slightly different!
