Converse - Thrasher Prevent This Tragedy Shoe Series

Converse Skateboarding has been working a lot on developing new shoes since they have found their way back into the skateboarding market. There were and of course still are many opinions still being voiced about the pros and the cons (ohh, what a coincidence!) about it all – I really don’t care.

And why? Because it’s not like all of the other companies are just in this business for having fun right? Whatever, I’m actually just interested in the new shoes which actually do look quite good and now they have teamed up with Thrasher Magazine with a series for the upcoming Prevent “This Tragedy” video.

The set is made up of the CTS and the CTS mid shoe models + Prevent This Tragedy t-shirts and hats. I’ll be trying to get my hands (and feet) on these and other Converse models to test them out…

Anthony Pappalardo “Circle Board in NYC”

November 1st, 2009 / 1 Comment » / by Jonathan Young

Anthony Pappalardo recently skated around New York City on a unique skateboard for a short film called Circle Board. That “board” does not look like a very easy ride – recognize the other skater in there, especially the closing scene of the video, nice one!

Thursday Video Footage Update

July 30th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

It has been a few days again and I was/am planning for the videos to be updated daily – just need to get into the routine, it’s not like it’s hard work to watch them!

Getting it started is seven minutes of fast cuts in the video of the Coastal Carnage contest that just went down this past weekend. Nice looking wooden bowl construction and these skaters ripped it apart, watch it right here.

Adio gets a mention in here today with their latest commercial/video ad – good looking filming, some nice tricks especially the kickflip downhill bomb was pretty mad, watch it right here.

And to round off my top three picks of the day is the quick-cut-like-lightning Tightbooth Production going by the name of “Lenz”: Japanese skaters giving their best and doing well yet another cool looking video, watch it right here.

Skateboard weekend contests updates in words

Weekend contest madness

…because I really haven’t found any video evidence online for these contests just yet so here’s the quick round-up for you.

At the Ultra Bowl 2009 contest in Malmö, Sweden Benji Galloway walked away with the win and the German contingent got some up there in the top 8 as well. Word up to Gerd from Bailgun.com making 7th place in the Masters division. What’s up with Wolfgangsta?? Hope he wasn’t partying like last year again, puking between trees and stories like that *haha*

Pros
1. Benji Galloway (US)
2. Steven Reeves (US)
3. Stu Graham (GB)
4. Johnny Turgesen (US)
5. Kevin Wenske (DE)
6. Tim Johnson (US)

Masters
1. Txus Dominguez (BAQ)
2. Nicky Guererro (DK)
3. Anders Tellen (DE)
4. Mattias Svenson (SE)
5. Jan Loften (SE)
6. Mark Munson (UK)
7. Gerd Rieger (DE)
8. Will Taylor (US)

Crossing over the Atlantic again we make a stop at the Zoo York sponsored AM Getting Paid 2009 in Montreal, Canada where Magnus Hanson grabbed first place followed up by Manny Santiago and Mickey Papa. Get all of the updates over on the Zoo York AM Getting Paid blog

And finishing this blog post off with the invite only Coastal Carnage bowl event sponsored by Converse with a 50,000 US dollar prize purse which did not get any mentionable media coverage in this day and age -weird but that’s the way it is. The amateurs stole the cake away from the pros at this contest with Raven Tershay taking first and 10,000 bucks followed up by Curren Caples and Kevin Kowalski (I though for some reason that he was in Malmö – obviously not informed correctly!). Best trick went to another favorite amateur skater of mine Aaron Jaws Hamoki with a Blunt kickflip to fakie on top of the taco – maybe we’ll get some video footage to back all of this up really soon!

Converse pushing back into skateboarding

Converse pushing back into skateboarding

A brand new site with a skateboard oriented blog and the announcement of Nick Trapasso as a new rider for the team – Converse is getting really serious again about it’s involvement in skateboarding. Not that they weren’t serious but this is an obvious move in the marketing department to let us potential buyers and shoe wearers know that Converse is part of skateboarding.

The Converse team already has some serious skill under it’s belt including Raymond Molinar, Sammy Baca, Ethan Fowler and Anthony Pappalardo. And the new 2009 line of shoes is looking pretty good…
