Skate Mental Winter Catalog 09 And New Website
December 13th, 2009 / 2 Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Skate Mental has been pretty busy lately, putting together new products for their Fall/Winter Catalog 09, a new website (which will make you go crazy if you keep looking at the background and all of the blinking elements for more than a few minutes *hehe*) and their collaboration product line with Nike SB. As usual their designs and ideas keep skateboarding fun, especially the “Attack of the Killer Nutria” and the “Alien vs. Predator” decks are my favorites. I do have to wonder a bit about the “Dolphin Style” deck which is almost, well let’s say a bit disturbing – wonder who came up with that idea!
The Skate Mental / Nike SB product line offers a Dunk High, a hockey jersey with some bloodstains, 2 t-shirts with pretty much typical piss-take designs which are great, 2 ‘Nike SM’ t-shirts and a winter jacket. Oh yeah, on top of all of that there’s even a backpack which supposedly comes with a red blanket for the cold season and that would come in handy right now for a lot of us!
The following skaters ride for Skate Mental: Shane ONeill, Brad Staba, Matt Beach, Dan Plunkett, Reese Forbes and John Motta.

Powell Peralta Christmas Skull & Sword Deck
December 1st, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Powell Peralta skateboards get a space for news – haven’t heard much from them lately or my radar scanner just hasn’t beeped when they turned up. This piece of skateboard news did attract my attention as they have planted a limited Christmas Skull & Sword Deck 10×30 deck in stores which may just work for some as a nice collector’s item for the next 50 years. You can decide if it’s something you want for Christmas…

Product Check – Lawless Wood Skateboards
September 1st, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Finally getting around to integrating the Product Check area into the Europeskate site. I am going to restrain myself from writing up “what a great product” reviews because it’s up to your choice in my eyes what you buy, wear or ride. I just personally like to know what’s available in the market: decks, trucks, shoes, clothes – you name it, it will land in here.

Lawless Wood Skateboard Co. started out 2002 as a support to the local skateboard scene around Mönchengladbach, Germany / Venlo, Netherlands. I hooked up with the owner and he sent over a test deck immediately which has been skated extensively in the meantime. Shallow concave and your regular Canadian maple quality.
Win a Kärleksgatan deck from Sweden!
July 22nd, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Kärleksgatan is a small skateboard oriented company out of the great city of Malmö, Sweden (yes, I admit it. I am jealous and I want to have a park like they do!) with currently have three different deck designs and a variety of nice t-shirts with a bit more than your usual skate logo/branded thing going for them.
Daniel from Kärleksgatan (which by the way means “love street” in Swedish – hmmm, need to ask about that one!) was kind enough to offer a free deck giveaway (32×8) here. And all you have to do is answer the following question:
What is on the design of the deck pictured above and below? Is it…
a) a bunch of girls
b) a bunch of bugs
c) a crate of beer
Send your correct answer by Friday, July 25th 2008 to Europeskate (go to the Contact Page by clicking here – www.europeskate.com/contact) with your full name and correct email address.
The winner will be chosen randomly and announced this weekend so take a couple of minutes and maybe you’ll get this nice deck!

Mike Mo, Alex Olson and Sean Malto turn pro
June 5th, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young
Girl Skateboard Company has just bumped up Mike Mo Capaldi, Alex Olson and Sean Malto to the pro ranks. Be on the lookout for their boards in stores this July. Alex Olson, by the way, is the first son of a pro skater to follow in his father’s footsteps and turn pro as well. Great to see how skateboarding is starting to really span generations…
Being a grandpa later in life is going to be great when you can gather your grandchildren around you and tell skate stories from back in the old days and the kids will just love it.

Cold War Skateboards with new decks
June 2nd, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young
I probably have just been living in some sort of hole in the ground for many years, missing out on smaller companies which make great gear supporting skateboarding the way it should be supported. So this morning I happened to discover the Cold War Skateboards website. They come from Portland, Oregon and have a very cool line of products which definitely take a punch at the current political leader in the US of A.
Good to see someone doing some graphics which also have something to say and make a point of letting it be seen.

The longboard shown above is the ICBM STAGE III – 2008 Model – pressed, shaped and printed in Oregon! This board is not a flexible cruiser. It’s got the same deeep concave as the standard short boards.
Max Width: 9.75″
Sidecut Width 8.4″
Wheelbase: 19.75 ”
Length: 38″
And these two beauties had to be shown as well: the anti-Bush board and a tribute to the one and only Naked Raygun band out of Chicago (second time this band has come up this weekend, coincidence?). All in all a company to check out and support!
