As the vert fever continues to rage in my body and mind, great news out of Sweden has been announced: the Vert Attack halfpipe contest series will continue in 2010 with the fourth annual contest being held January 30th at the Bryggeriet Skatepark with 1000 Euros up for grabs – the money is definitely not any reason for being their, I expect to see loads of vert skaters from all over Europe turning up!
Watch the action from last year’s event after the jump below – over 36 minutes of vert skating!

Ahh, this is something I have been waiting for as I – yet again – missed out on the Ultra Bowl 2009 contest in Malmö, Sweden but luckily my friends from the vert.nu website (David Östlund is the man behind the lens) put together two large galleries of photos so head on over to check them out, really nice pics here. The Bacon team and many other top skaters were there mixing it up.

Swedish skateboard summer 09 videos
May 3rd, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Sweden is a fantastic country – nice people, great landscapes, fun parties and quite a few awesome concrete parks to skate. I was there last year and to be honest I just about skated nothing as I was enjoying meeting up with so many people instead of being on the board. It can happen sometimes but i hope to make it up there this summer to do a lot more skateboarding instead.
The summer is still around the corner but from these recent videos from Malmö and the quite new Actionpark in Gothenburg you can see what is waiting around the corner if you make it to Sweden!

Malmo’s new concrete – Sibbarp skatepark

I was in Malmö, Sweden just this past summer and before we headed over to the contest one morning, we were directed to the latest in concrete wonders to go on display in Sweden. This time only a few kilometers away from the Stapelbäddsparken skatepark a quite different skate plaza of sorts has been put together. Nothing is higher than around 4 feet but everything is there – transitions, volcanoes, ledges, you name it – you’ll find it and you can coast the entire park without having to push!
It wasn’t finished back in summer but the construction team including Dave Toms, Chooky Fowler aka Jezza, Tobias Henriksson, Nils Svensson, John Magnusson, Patrik Evander and Pontus Alv really put together a beauty of a park. Lots of fun and a good place to chill – really close to the sea as well and away from neighbourhood housing..by the way, the grand opening was already held August 30th!
Here’s where you can find the park:
Quiksilver Bowlriders 2008 finals schedule
June 11th, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young
Updated June 12th: I corrected the title – I wrote 2006 ibefore, duhhh! Sorry about that. Getting ready for one of the biggest events in Europe this year, here’s the schedule for the Quiksilver Bowlriders 2008 finals which is taking place yet again at the Stapelbäddsparken skatepark in Malmö, Sweden. And don’t worry, if you can’t make it the entire contest will be available as a live webcast, video on demand highlights and podcasts. Yes, skateboarding has grown up in the last few years!
It’s a packed program with the last qualification taking place tomorrow, June 12th and then the Junior, Pro and Masters contests will take over the park. A best trick contest is being sponsored by Suziki and the winner gets a brand new motorcycle as well! And mixing it just right there will be live music and – how could it be better – for the football fans the European Championship game between Sweden and Spain will be shown as well on Saturday evening. Should be good!
To get all of the information, make sure you check out the Quiksilver Bowlriders site, especially the link Bowlriders Magazine on the bottom right side of the screen. There you can find all of the information you need about the contest and even some about Malmö itself.

Nike Blazer launch party in Malmö, Sweden
June 10th, 2008 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Nike SB has worked together with Swedish rider Danijel Todorovic to create a new Blazer shoe model with colours like any would always want: blue and yellow. Me, being an American, well, I only and always wear red, white and blue. Yeah, right….
Well, Nike SB is holding a party for it during the Quiksilver Bowlriders finals in Malmö this Friday, June 13th at the Amore Restaurant from 22:30 till 3 in the morning. Sounds good. Getting in costs 100 Swedish Krona which is about 10 Euros.
