Typical Culture – DIY Online Mag From San Diego
November 24th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

It’s great to have a few days off to just relax, skate a lot and dwell even more in the never-ending depths of the skate community which is represented all over the web. I stumbled across a video on The Skateboard Mag’s website just a half an hour ago entitled “The Typical Culture Montage” featuring skating by David Cobb, Spencer Pratti, Andrew Elliot, Brandon perelson, Truman Hooker, Dylan Messer, Elijah Berle, Cody Carlin, Drew Dezort, Patrick Beaudouin, Russell Grundy, Ryan Harris, Tim Williams, Chris LaRue and Adrian Gephart.
Turns out Typical Culture is a skater run web mag / blog run out of San Diego which is one of the best reads I have found, packed with loads of good photos and videos and even better, it shows a part of skateboarding I just would not get to see all the way over in Germany. Watch the Typical Culture Montage video right here and make sure you visit the site, I’ve just bookmarked them…

Bucky Lasek and the mad Bowl-B-Q video
October 12th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

I’ve seen one or two short videos with Bucky Lasek’s brand new backyard pool which really just blows your mind because of the sheer dimensions of it. This past weekend (October 10th, 2009) Bucky invited a bunch of skaters (Bucky Lasek, Andy Macdonald, Ben Raybourn, Bruno Passos, Bob Burnquist, Christian Hosoi, Sergie Ventura, Rune Glifberg, Jesse Fritsch, Chris Miller, PLG, and many more…) over to his house to try out the bowl in the first Bucky Bowl-B-Q and it went off…some of the airs are just off any scale and you really do not want to slam in this bowl.
Band check-out : Sirhan Sirhan
January 11th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

Sirhan Sirhan are a three man band out of San Diego, California sporting a mixture of screamo vocals, punk and metal riffs and basically quic and dirty lyrics. It definitely is not music for those of you out there hoping to snap your fingers to a beat or something silly like that (how did I come up with that sentence??).
Basically what these guys are up to is noise rock and just last year they came out with their debut album with 11 tracks entitled “Blood” which is in my opinion and eye and ear opener – something to listen to and different than most of the generic pop/punk/metal bands sprouting out of the ground everyday. Oh, and by the way a little history lesson for all of us: Sirhan Bishara Sirhan was the guy convicted for assassinating Robert Kennedy, thus changing history itself in the USA massively – are they trying to tell us something? Get the record/CD, it’s more than worth it!
