Typical Culture – DIY Online Mag From San Diego
November 24th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

It’s great to have a few days off to just relax, skate a lot and dwell even more in the never-ending depths of the skate community which is represented all over the web. I stumbled across a video on The Skateboard Mag’s website just a half an hour ago entitled “The Typical Culture Montage” featuring skating by David Cobb, Spencer Pratti, Andrew Elliot, Brandon perelson, Truman Hooker, Dylan Messer, Elijah Berle, Cody Carlin, Drew Dezort, Patrick Beaudouin, Russell Grundy, Ryan Harris, Tim Williams, Chris LaRue and Adrian Gephart.
Turns out Typical Culture is a skater run web mag / blog run out of San Diego which is one of the best reads I have found, packed with loads of good photos and videos and even better, it shows a part of skateboarding I just would not get to see all the way over in Germany. Watch the Typical Culture Montage video right here and make sure you visit the site, I’ve just bookmarked them…

Have a look in this cool video at the construction of a concrete bowl in time lapse which was made in Portland, Oregon. The usual suspects from Dreamland helped build this one and some dude even fell into the bowl as it was being built!
Aaron Rowe clip from the bogdump website

Okay, so there are tons of videos with skaters being promoted all over the internet so it’s pretty normal to come across a skater you never ever have heard of (especially if he or she lives half way around this planet and is not covered all over the media spectrum!) but Aaron Rowe is so smooth and perfect with the tricks AND on top of that he skates with speed that this is a must-see video.
J Grant Brittain photos on JPG Magazine site

Seems to be that J Grant Brittain is getting a lot of space on the Europeskate site and I have no problems with it – I grew up with his photography and he always has been able to grab special moments and put them on film. Not only skateboarding but also many other facets in our life can be viewed and enjoyed over at the JPG Magazine website where he has a gallery as well. Just click on the pic below, Gator by the way back long ago shredding a pool.

Real Skateboards throwaway video site
January 11th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Jonathan Young

This development in the skateboarding video arena has been showing itself for a while now: the trend towards bringing out ever longer and better video parts right on the internet and for free. The big companies can obviously use it more for their marketing pleasure while smaller skateboard companies or videographers will have to fight harder or just be even more innovative about their filming.
Where ever this leads, we all get to enjoy the freebies and Real Skateboards has put together a graphically pleasing site with video parts not destined for a full-length video. The Lost Days and Throwaways site already has 9 chapters of video – a must see if you are a fan of the team.
